Book Synopsis When a guest goes missing at an isolated Gothic mansion, bang in the middle of a glamorous birthday party, the MURDER MYSTERY BOOK CLUB abandon their champagne flutes and start searching. What begins as a fun game of hide-and-seek quickly turns into a horror story as first one body, then another shows up, but NOT the missing man. Hes the beloved nephew of book club member Ronnie Westera, and shes adamant hes a victim, but the police think otherwise. As their attention turns to the missing mans twin brother, the book club look elsewhere for answers, like Ronnies disgruntled in-laws, her gossipy BFF, a secretive CEO and - gasp! - Ronnie herself (because even their resident socialite is hiding something behind her chiffon and pearls). In their latest closed-circle thriller at a Knives Out -style manor, our crime fiction aficionados cant help seeing similarities between this whodunnit and two modern murder mysteries theyve been reading. Can you guess both books and what they have in common? Previously titled The Agatha Christie Book Club , this series is for real mystery enthusiasts, and is the sixth, stand-alone instalment packed with fun, fireworks and a twist so startling it leaves those fireworks looking, well, blah . Join the crime worlds favourite book club and test out your own little grey cells. NB: This book follows BRITISH English spelling and usage, and contains some Australian slang. Clean read: no graphic violence, sex, or strong language. Genre: cozy mystery, humour, amateur sleuths Review Quotes The book club comprised the Finlay sisters, Perry, Queenie, Missy, Claire, and the wealthy Ronnie Westera. They were book lovers and amateur sleuths who regularly discovered murder victims. Were they jinxed? It was Ronnies seventy-fifth birthday, held in the palatial Westeraview, the home of her late husband. Everything was going well until members of the book club found the body of a guest named Greta, while at the same time, Sebastian went missing. Greta was the love interest of twin brothers Sebastian and Seamus Jones, who were Ronnies nephews. The twins stood a chance of inheriting Ronnies wealth, and her in-laws Bethany and Bronson were unhappy about it. Ronnie also had her secrets, and everyone had motives. Who killed Greta, and where was Sebastian? Follow the group with their investigations in Gone Guest by C. A. Larmer. Gone Guest by C. A. Larmer is the sixth installment in the Murder Mystery Book Club series. This novel had suspense, got me invested, and sent me on a mission to disentangle the complicated web surrounding the Jones and Westera families. I loved the development and unique plot. The characters also had interesting personalities that added flavor to the storyline. I loved Missy the most due to her childlike nature, which made it easy for her to charm almost anyone. However, I had a love-hate relationship with the book club members because I felt that they were sometimes disloyal to Ronnie. They gossiped about her and would readily believe the worst about their so-called friend. Despite this, the characters were relatable because humans are flawed. Larmer is a fantastic author who wrote such a beautiful story. I hope to read more in this series. Jennifer Ibiam for Readers Favorite
